Introduction

I am a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist with expertise and training in all aspects of heart care, and a particular focus on heart rhythm disorders. I see people with palpitation (an abnormal sensation of the heartbeat, including irregular or fast heartbeats), dizzy spells, blackouts, breathlessness, chest pain, and wider cardiovascular concerns.

Good cardiology care starts with listening carefully. My role is to explain what your symptoms and test results mean, recommend only what is useful, and help you to make decisions about your treatment with confidence.

I have experience of more than 1,500 catheter ablation procedures, including thermal energy and pulsed field ablation, as of August 2026.

Qualifications

My medical training began at the University of Cambridge, where I graduated with MB BChir and MA (Cantab), and received several scholarships and distinctions including the George Peter Baker prize for the highest mark in the written Final MB examination. I then moved to Oxford for my further cardiology training, completion of a PhD/DPhil, and advanced training in all aspects of the management of heart rhythm disorders, including electrophysiology studies, catheter ablation, and implanted cardiac devices (such as pacemakers and defibrillators). My qualifications include Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and Fellowship of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).

Wider clinical practice

I work jointly at the John Radcliffe Hospital and the University of Oxford. My clinical work includes the assessment and treatment of atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, SVT, ectopic beats, blackouts and other rhythm problems.

For patients who need it, I offer specialist discussion of catheter ablation and the implantation and follow-up of pacemakers and implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICDs). I also maintain an active academic interest in cardiovascular research, particularly atrial fibrillation and cardiometabolic risk.
